Since I know how excited you all were for the first week of training, I will share with you how the Hanson’s Marathon Method Week#1 went.
The week consisted of ALL easy runs starting Thursday (6,6,6,8), which I thought would be a piece of cake but then Mother Nature decided to hit the city with 90 degree weather. I also didn’t realize how tiring consecutive running would be. I’ve always mixed my consecutive runs with short runs (4-5 miles) and never realized what a difference this would be. It’s going to be a tough road ahead but hopefully a successful one!
Phil is obsessed with Strava and made me join. It makes me nervous because all your runs are public (since anyone can follow you) and hence people can judge you. He said that we have to get the Junedoodle badge or whatever it’s called.
Today begins Week #2 of training and also the start of the speed and tempo workouts. Today’s run is just 6 miles easy but tomorrow we are doing 12x400s with a 400 recovery. Thank goodness it rained last night because it should be cooler the rest of the week.
Last night I was trying to figure out what to do with my frozen bananas so of course I went on Pinterest and found THIS recipe. I didn’t take any pictures but here is one I stole from Tasty Kitchen:
HOWEVER, instead of store bought dark chocolate, I made my own chocolate sauce:
-1/4 cup cocoa powder (I used Trader Joe’s)
-1/4 cup sugar
-1 tsp vanilla extract
-1/4 cup water.
Mix all the ingredients together, bring to a boil, and start dipping!!
